VANCOUVER — Croatia makes its first appearance at the European Union Film Festival with the Vancouver Premiere of Night Boats (2012), a crowd-pleasing road movie about two senior citizens who fall in love and run away in search of adventure.

Helena (Ana Karić) and Jakov (Radko Polić) are in their 70s and living in dull retirement home. A well-travelled jazz musician in his day, Jakov hasn’t yet lost his wanderlust and convinces the more cautious Helena that they should “escape” and seek the romance of the road. "A rich, cinematic expression of characters who come alive in a way so magnificently vibrant — you can't wait to get old” (Bombay I.F.F).
